FLJ update - 29th November

Would you believe we are nearly into December ? Well, after last Friday’s storm, maybe you would. It’s definitely feeling more wintery, so that means wrapping up, and keeping visible.

Gloves and a hat make a huge difference when it comes to keeping warm. And please make an effort to wear some hi vis - either fluorescent tops, or even better if you have clothing with reflective strips.

So what’s happening in FLJ world?

Covid Update

There has been no official change in the requirements (so far) but given the appearance of the Omicron variant in Scotland, people may choose to wear face coverings before and after the run for the next while

Couch to 5k Group

Our C25k group which began in October is now on their final week. Well done to all of them for sticking in. We will continue running for 30 minutes for the remainder of this month and then integrate the groups in the new year.

GEF 3k - 5th December

Entries are now closed, but we have a great FLJ turnout for Sunday.

Races start in waves from 10am and you will receive start lists, times and any other relevant info from GEF this week.

We can use the TAQA car park - location info can be found here along with the race route map. Please do not park in the Village Hotel car park.

We will have the FLJ gazebo up and have some mulled wine for after the run

FLJ celebration lunch - 5th December

This will take place once everyone has finished the 3k run. We will head over to the Village Hotel where we can use their leisure facilities for a quick swim, or shower, and then meet for lunch at 12.

This is open to everyone, although we will incorporate the C25k graduation, and be presenting certificates and medals. Please make an effort to come along, and support the club.

We will also hold a fundraising raffle for the club. Please bring along any donations to any of the runs this week, or on the day.

Raffle tickets will be available on the day or in advance if you want to give me cash or PayPal.me/fljs. £5/strip

Santa Run - 12th December

There is no Aberden Santa run this year, but if you fancy travelling further afield, there is an Alford Santa Dash on Sunday 12th December. Sign up here https://www.entryhub.co.uk/alford-santa-run

Prosecco Run and Awards Night - 22nd December

This is going to be fun. A tour round three local houses, running around a mile in between each, in full festive outfits.

At the final house, we will have our awards night, with the presentation of awards covering the last two years. Make sure it’s in your diary

BrewDog Run -29th December

We will need plenty volunteers to help out at the BrewDog run again this year. It’s sold out (and with a huge waiting list) so the onus is on us to make sure it’s a great day for those involved. Let me know if you are able to help out. We need people at the checkpoints, the finish line, and some marshals in Ellon

We will also need people to pack goodie bags the day before, Tuesday 28th December

Plogging - 9th January

Sophie is going to be arranging a regular plogging event on the new year. The first will be on Sunday 9th January and roughly every six weeks after that.
